Hi,
I tried to access below websites on 1st machine with Windows Media Player v10 (WMP v10) and had the C00D11B0 error. However, accessing the same websites on another machine in the same network with Windows Media Player v9 (WMP v9) has no issue. And, once the 2nd machine with WMP v9 streamed a particular segment, the 1st machine with WMP v10 will be able to access that particular segment immediately. Appreciate any advise on the above please. Thanks. |

That's an interesting result. The .nsc files are "found" OK and readable, 1and are "multicast delivery specification" files - they "announce" a broadcast. What they do is to tell the player to try to connect to a local multicast island (a router or server near to you) to get the media - the island then connects to the media server. As long as you're connected, the local island will keep the connection open in case any other users want to view the content who are located near you on the internet. It will only get one copy of the data from the source server no matter how many users are connected to the island (where - if you connected direct to the source media server, it would have to open one steam to each user - this way it only opens 1 to many viewers) What seems to be happening in your case is you're first making a request using WMP10 (which fails) then a while later, making a request using WMP9. I can't think of any problem with the v10 player, so it suggests to me that there's a significant lag between you trying to play the file and the local server notifying the player it's available. After a while, the multicast stream is torn down and goes out of use. I'm curious to know, if you request the file in WMP10, then try again in WMP10 after say 30 seconds - does it play then ? Thanks for your clarification, Neil.
>> if you request the file in WMP10, then try again in WMP10 after say 30 seconds - does it play then ? nope, tried, it doesn't work. it only works when i access e website w WMP9 first, then I can access it on WMP10, to see those segments that WMP9 has streamed. for example, aft streamed 10min of program on WMP9, I can only access that 10min of streamed segments on WMP10. any subsequent segments not prior-streamed on WMP9, I can see it on WMP10. Appreciate your further clarification. Thanks.
