Default WMP 10 spontaneous shutdown

Under XP SP2, using a Sony DVD burner/player, WMP displays video and plays
audio normally for ~10 min, then from fullscreen view, it spontaneously jumps
back to ?non-full screen view & moments later stops playing altogether, and
occasionally the display is graced by my screensaver. If I keep keyboard in
lap, for quick access, pressing <Alt-Enter> quickly aborts the process,
taking me back to full screen, with DVD resuming where we had been
interrupted. It is workable, but neither graceful nor worthy of a microsoft
product. In newsgroup, there is a reference to WMP troubleshooter. I've
looked once, and will look again, without so many open windows, but
assistance would be appreciated.

Is it audio or video that's cutting out? Which DVD decoder are you using?
