I recently purchased a new computer. I have been trying in vain for several
hours to move my old WMP library to my new computer. Both run Windows XP, and both run v10. I've tried burning onto CD's as well as using the file transfer wizard. The problem is that once I think I've succeeded in getting the files onto my new computer, I realize that they are now .wma files, which crash my WMP as soon as I try to play them. On the old computer, they appear to be .mp3 files. Why the file type changes during the transfer is beyond me. It could have something to do with what Windows does when the files are copied, or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that on the new machine, Yahoo jukebox is the default player. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. |

WMP will only be a hindrance in this matter. For the purpose of this exercise your music is just files and can be copied or backed up like any other.
