My search revealed that this question has been asked many times before but
nobody seems to know the answer. I'll just try my luck again here. I have a widescreen LCD monitor (16:10), hooked up with my system via the DVI port. When I play widescreen DVDs in Windows Media Player's full screen mode, there are always four big black bars around the picture. I.e. the movie only occupies the center of the screen while there is much room to stretch in every direction. I have tried all configuration in WMP with no luck. Evidently I am not happy with it otherwise why would I upgrade to a widescreen monitor in the first place? Does anybody know the solution to this problem (i.e. how to make a widescreen DVD movie take the whole screen on a widescreen display)? I should mention that the problem only occurs when playing DVDs. I have some ..avi and .mpg video files of various format that stretch just fine. BTW my system is Windows XP Pro, Windows Media Player 10, vide card is ATI Radeon 9600XT. |
