WMP does show japanese charactors.
my computer can show japanese charactors, but when it comes to WMP it does
not. instead i get boxes in return. is there anyway where i can do something about it?

This works fine on my system.... are you sure the files contain Japanese characters... ? What version of WMP on what version of Windows?
