I have an issue in my district with Media Player 10 and certain videos that use the Media Player 9 Codecs. Here's the situation. On a Windows XP SP1 or below machine, I install Media Player 10, I install the Codec pack from MSFT's website. I open the video I download from www.unitedstreaming.com (educational video website) and the user is prompted to download and install a Media Player 9 Codec. I have isolated the files and it is mp43dmod.dll version 9.0.0.3250 the file reads as Windows Media MPEG-4 Video Decoder. This file is not included in the wm9 codec download and must be downloaded at runtime by the user. My issue is that all of my users are logging into the workstations on a domain as USER objects and cannot install the codecs because they are not administrators. Making them administrators is NOT an option. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike |

I believe that's correct- that particular file would I believe fall through the cracks in that exact configuration. The easiest way, and probably the best way, to pick up this file is via upgrading to SP2. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
