Default Problem with Amazon Files

Suddenly and for no obvious reason, when I click on the 30-second Windows
Media sound files in amazon.com, they don't play. The little WM window
pops up, but there's no file downloaded. (The amazon Real Media ones are
giving me a whole different problem, but that's for another usenet group.)

WM works OK with some sites when downloading an .avi or .wav or .mp3, so I
don't know what the problem is with the amazon site and WM. WM also works
fine when I double-click audio files on my hard drive. Any suggestions?

Recently, deveral people have reported that some files in Amazon don't
play. It turned out the website part to make the links wasn't working
"properly", so there was actually no file to play when clicking the
link (but when downloading there was).

If you know the URL / address of the page you're looking at, can you
post it and I'll try it from here ?

Cheers - Neil

That's completely weird. They all work now. Absolutely none of them were
working before, and not for a couple of weeks.

Earlier today, I used a different computer and manually entered an amazon
URL here, and apparently that somehow fixed the problem. Or something...
who knows.

I guess actually *you* fixed the problem, Neil. Way to go... thanks!!!
<smile> Another case successfully solved. What a guy.

Usually website managers 'fix' broken things on the quiet, and hope
nobody notices. I guess you caught them out ;-)

Sometimes mailing the 'webmaster' of the site can help get things
fixed, they may genuinely not be aware of a problem on a large site
until somebody mentions it. Perhaps somebody else did that ?
