Very often when I close Windows Media Player I get a message:- Media Player
is converting files in the background, closing will stop this etc.....

does anybody know what files it is converting and what is it converting them
to ??? also can I stop this activity, cannot see any referance to it in the
options.

It's doing this according to WMP's Tools:Optionsevices:Advanced options.
Set the options there. =)
