Hi. I have an RCA Lyra RD1070 digital music player. This is an older
player, and is capable of playing WMA files, but not MP3 files. I have been using WMP to manage my MP3 music library, and to convert and transfer my files to the RD1070. I accomplished this by selecting the WMA file format, and desired quality level, from the RD1070's Properties page, accessed from the Devices tab of the Options dialog. I now have a new PC, which came complete with WMP 10. I was able to easily and quickly import my MP3 files into the media library. The problem I'm having is that WMP doesn't seem to allow me to specify the file type for my device. It only lets me choose whether or not to convert to the file format required by the device. This would be all well and good, except for the fact that my device is only an RCA RD1070 when it is connected with no memory card installed, limiting me to the 128MB of internal memory. If I insert an SD card, it looks just like an external hard drive, and files are copied over in their original MP3 format. WMP should not care what device type is connected. In the most general case, it should be possible to insert a memory card directly into the computer's card reader, and transfer music to the card for use in any player, even if the player is not physically connected to the computer. Is this a bug? Is there a way around it? Anyone else have a similar problem out there? How do you manage the transfer of music to an SD or other external memory card to be played in a portable player that is not connected at the time? Thanks. Tony |
