Default WPM freezes mouse

After playing an audio CD for several minutes, my mouse freezes and the
pointer disappears. I have to completely shut down my computer to get my
mouse back. Any remedies for this problem?

That's horrible. If you rip the CD to your hard drive and then play the
local WMA/MP3 files back, do they work then?
What version of Windows and what version of WMP?

Yes, even when I rip the CD to my hard drive and play it, after a short while
my mouse freezes and I have to reboot. I did notice that it seems to happen
at the end of the CD. I'm using another media player (which also had the
same problem) and trying it on the repeat mode to see if that makes a
difference.

Err- so if you eject the CD and are playing the locally ripped file, it
still freezes up? That was my question, and I'm not sure which way you
answered it. =)
