I get lines that look like creases as well as these blocky step-ladder type
lines whenever I play video files through Win Media Player. I always assumed it was a problem with Nvidia's drivers for my video card. But recenty, I tried playing my AVI files through PowerDVD, AND THERE WERE NO LINES!!! No problems whatsoever! Then I played WMV and ASF files on PowerDVD and they were also perfect! The picture is even sharper than using WMP. I think it's hilarious that Microsoft's video codecs for their own format don't even work with their own player. The only reason I even use WMP is because it's better at organizing my thousands of files, but audio sounds better on WinAmp or Real Player, and now I find video plays very well on third-party applications but not on WMP. Of course, I would like the option of using WMP because it's a pain having to switch back and forth, so if anyone knows exactly what the issue and fix is - DiVX or DirectX 9c problems that confuse WMP, let me know. Thanks. |

As he mentioned elsewhere, this was a bug in his video card driver. So really nothing to do with MS. =\ -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
