WMP played cd's before, but no won't play any. This started with version 9,
I've tried upgrading to version 10, the problem continues. It lists track numbers but gives the message "The selected file is in a scheme not recognized by WMP, but may be able to play. Because the extension is unknown you should be sure the file comes form a trustworthy source". Eventually I get error code COOD1197. Files are cda format and I can open them using another program. Nothing has changed except updating to version 10 after the problem began. |

CDA files by themselves aren't valid files. What happens when you go to WMP's Rip menu and try to play the CD there? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Basically the same the same thing with a slightly different message but the
same error code. When this started I couldn't play mp3 files either. I have managed to restored that. "zachd [ms]" wrote: > > CDA files by themselves aren't valid files. How did you fix MP3s? What's the value for "RunTime" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\W MPlayer\Extensions\.cda ? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Runtime value is at 0x00000009 (9)
To be honest, I don't remember what I did for the MP3s. That was weeks ago before vacation and trying to figure this part out. I appreciate your help.
