ok so i used to burn a cd nearly every week and everything went fine. then i
stopped burning for about two months, after i ran out of cds. then i bought the exact same kind of cd and now it won't let me burn...the burner goes through the motions, up until it says that it is burning the first file, then my computer freezes and a little box pops up saying that it couldn't burn the cd and to check if the cd is damaged or try a different brand. i've tried writing at a lower speed, but that doesn't work either.....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated--thanks! |

I'm having the same problem, however, mine was a little different. I moved
my computer from my office to home. My firm makes us buy our own computers. Don't ask. Anyway, our firm had Windows 2000 Professional across the board. When I brought the machine home, I formatted the machine and did a clean install of Windows XP Professional. I have completed all of the updates and service pack installs of my applications. Nothing in the system has changed from a hardware perspective. The issue doesn't seem to be with just Windows Media either. My Nero software goes through the motions too, but when I play back the CD, nothing appears to be on it. I hooked up the HP CD-Writer 8200e to another PC running Win2000 and it works fine. Here is the message I get when it tries to complete the burn. "Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs." My guess is that it might have something todo with XP but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the problem that it starts burning but then it says the disc is
damaged or dirty, even though it new. I've never had this much trouble burning a few stupid discs! |
