I have a rather weird problem and hope someone can give me a pointer.
I have WMP 9 installed and I am using W2K. Previously I used to see a Preview mini player on the left of the folder for previewing AVI or WMV files, but lately for reason unknown to me, that particular player seems to have gone wrong, and now, the various buttons are at the top of the player screen and it cannot perform the previewing task. Similarly, when I am trying to use it for Streaming video in IE, the player too came out in the same way and I just can't do streaming video anymore. Can anyone help me with some pointers as to what is wrong. Many thanks in advance. Thanks & Regards, SY |

That kind of thing typically would sound like you have the wrong version of wmploc.dll loaded. If you reinstall and then reboot, do things then show up right? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Thanks Zachd for the pointer.
Tried reinstalling with a new download of the installation package from Microsoft web-site but still the same problem. I have also downloaded the WMPPlugin.exe and wanted to install it, but it came out with a message stating that the package can only be installed with Player that is after Version 5, but I have already got Version 9 installed. I wonder whether these 2 problems are interelated. Any further help is much appreciated. WMPPlugin.exe couldn't possibly fix this issue (I wrote the package - trust me on this). It sounds like you have the wrong version of wmploc.dll loaded. That can only be fixed through turning off the taskbar player, installing the player, and rebooting. If that doesn't help, then somehow you have a problem that you'd need actual support for. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
