Player remains on using 60% of CPU power. The only way to shut off the player
is to shut down the computer. When attemptiing to log off, I receive a message that the media sink window is attemptiing to close. Once player stays on, it does not respond at all. If I click on the icon or on the player in my programs, the window dims but nothing happens. "Play all" ceases to work. I am unable to play anything using the player, regardless if it's in my library, or on the internet. At one point I had two listings for wmplayer.exe in the process window of Task Mgr. If I restart, the player will work until such time that it decides not to. I am running XP Home with SP2, and Norton Internet Security 2005. The Media Player 10 is the default player. Also, when attempting to view streaming media, sometimes the player gets hung up on buffering, It will jump atound from 4% to 68% buffered, become non-responsive, and begin again with the different %'s of buffering. Any suggestions will be greatly apreciated. THANK YOU |

Does it happen for audio-only files, or only when you try to play video too? This should be a lock-up in the appropriate driver, so either http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#dsound (if it happens for files with just audio) or http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#vdriver (if it only happens if you play video) should help. Which helps, if either do? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
