Default Bad mistake

I made the mistake of trying to uninstall and reinstall WMP10 because it kept
crashing anytime I played anything. Now when I try to reinstall it I get the
message "This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with
this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the
Microsoft web site." The links it sends me to just gives older versions of
the player. I'm running Windows XP so 10 should work.

Any help resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
