I've tried to contact Roxio for help. No luck.

I recently purchased Easy Media Creator 8. After installing it, I can no
longer view streaming video using WMP (regardless of the website). The audio
can be heard, but the video is frozen on the first frame. I uninstall the
software, WMP streaming works fine. I reinstall Easy Media Creator, and the
problem reappears. I have V.10.

I have played with the connection speed settings in WMP without finding a
solution. Your help would be much appreciated.

WMVs seem to stream normally. But MPGs take longer to load and - when they
eventually do - its just the audio that plays. The video stays frozen on the
first frame. Its the weirdest thing. The cursor thing at the bottom doesn't
move along with the clip either. ANY ideas? This is so frusterating.

See, that's awesome information. You supply good information, you get good
information back.

Roxio is installing an MPEG decoder that is stomping on top of WMP's MPEG
decoder. You would need to know how to not install that, or how to tell it
not to stomp on WMP's decoder. Roxio's support should know more about how
their decoder works, so you'd probably want to check there.

It's something I've honestly never looked into. The Video Decoder Check-Up
utility I believe does this for MPEG-2, but I don't think any MS tool does
this for MPEG-1. Stuff like Sherlock Codec Detective and etc should allow
for this kind of thing, I'd think. It's sometimes interesting, but most MS
people don't typically have really dirty systems and so people don't think
immensely about ensuring handling for codec contention.
