When I play a CD, Windows Media player 10 displays the album and track info
as "Unknown". If I perform "Find Album Info" it works just fine and displays the correct album and track info. However, when I click on "Finish" to update the info, no update actually occurrs. Windows Media still displays Unknown for both album and track info. I've changed numerous options, etc., etc., all to no avail. Can anyone point me to a fix for this? I understand that I can type the info in manually, but what a pain! That's the whole point of having the computer grab the info automatically, then I don't have to type in track and album info for 20 tracks per CD! |

It's a sporadic problem in WMP that's been around since at least the last version, and the reason why I rarely bother with the feature anymore. While some folks claim doing this or that 'fixes' the problem, I think that it is just coincident with the service coming on line again .... it will almost certainly just start working again after a day or two. |

If it *never* updates, that sounds like a corruption of the Media Library. Is the Media Library otherwise functional? You can reset the library via- http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary , which should fix CD-track association. -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
