Does anyone happen to know why I can no longer hear midi files that play
automatically when websites with music are brought up? My speakers work fine. I can hear when I play something deliberately on the Media Player. And I've got the box checkmarked on Internet Explorer AND Windows Media Player to play sounds in web pages and to play Midi files. It wroked fine this morning and I haven't messed with any options. It simply stopped playing the music on web pages. Help please! ( |

And you miss these files? *puzzled* ;-) WMP has little to do with MIDI overall, but it sounds like another player may have taken over MIDI embedding... does the same/usual UI show up when a MIDI is embedded? Do other embedded file types work? If you right click on the image of the embedded player, do you get an "Error Details" option? Are you up to date on http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. By default, Quicktime not only takes over embedded MIDI, but uses some sort
of internal MIDI rendering engine. If you have Quicktime installed, try disabling its handling of the MIDI MIME type.
