I ripped Santana "Maria Maria" using WMP 10 at it's lossless setting. The CD
that was burned had lower volume than the original for that track. Upon investigation I found that the original track was severly clipped due to a lot of bass. The copy waveshape from the burned CD was a close approximation to the original except the maximum digital level was reduced from 32,6xx to 14,5xx. There were other songs on the burned CD from other artists and they were not effected. Is there normalization of some kind built into WMP 10 that kicks in when the signal level is high? Can it be disabled? Thanks... -- Audio Nut |

What did you use to burn the CD? The setting under WMP's Tools:Options evices:<burning drive>:Properties:Qualities for "Apply volumeleveling" might be of interest... ? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. zachd [ms],
You're a genius. That must be it. I wouldn't have thought to look there. I'll try it tomorrow. I bet that does the trick. Thanks again, Mark -- Audio Nut "zachd [ms]" wrote: > > What did you use to burn the CD?
