I have Windows XP Home Service Pack 2, Windows Media Player 10.00.00.3802
I'm getting chopply playback when I play videos. Momentary screen freezes. This has recently started happening with all of my videos, even if I use a different player (DivX Player). I've tried adjusting page Paging File Size, I've redownloaded WMP, even tried System Restore but nothing helps. The only thing different on my PC is that I've used up a lot of space on my hard drive but I still have over 25 gigs of free space. Please offer suggestions if you know any. Thanks in advance. |

What changed? What video card driver are you using? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#vdriver -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Nvidia GEForce2 Integrated GPU
What changed is I downloaded some Codec Packs to try to get a video to play. I removed them, even used System Restore. Have this problem on all my videos no matter what player I use. Have used the Windows Help for Display problems but it did not solve the problem. Yeah, System Restore and uninstall doesn't kill off Codec Packs. Neat, huh? Codecs Packs are pretty much the worst innovation in software I can think of within the multimedia field. Presumably it left some remnant of itself on your system. Unfortunately, because they are such random pieces of software, it's pretty much impossible for anyone to guess what it did. Basically, you ran malicious software on your system. You may be able to track this down further with help of filter enumeration tools - I'd suggest toying with dxdiag.exe and RadLight... ? - but -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
