This isn't ideal, but if qasf isn't *anywhere* on your system, this will get you limping along: Download the WMP10 install package (mp10setup.exe) if you don't already have it. Right-click on it and choose Open With Winzip. Drag out the qasf.dll file and copy it to your system32 directory. That should get qasf relatively back to normal... -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Hi
I have tried what you suggested and the following happened: I opened the WMP10 installation file with WinZip and could see the qasf.dll file in the list I only got the option to extract the file from WinZip there was no Copy or Cut options. When I tried extracting the file it finishes the extraction with no errors but the file has not been extracted to the location I selected, I created a new folder as a test and extracted all the files in the list to the new folder and it extracted everyone except qasf.dll. I tried to drag and drop the file to a number of different folders including system32 but got the 2 following errors: Error copying file or folder Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk Then WinZip Could not find C:\Documents and Settings\Ken\Local Settings\Temp\wz309f\qasf.dll Thanks for all you suggestions / help so far, do you have any other ideas? Options: * The package you downloaded is corrupt. Download a new version of mp10setup.exe. This is not likely the source of the proble, but could be. * You have "hide protected system files" turned on. You can turn that off under Explorer's Tools:Folder Options:View. You need to be able to extract that file out, really. -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
