Hi, I have purchased over 150 WMA files in the last year. Since I installed the IE6 update KB905915 a couple of weeks ago, I cannot access these licensed / purchased files! I've uninstalled the update but whatever damage was done is still making it impossible to play these music files. Tech support says there is a fix for WMP 10 but no word about WMP 9. The error code is: drmv2clt.dll. This is a bit infuriating. It's like they come into your home and take what belongs to you because they don't know what they are doing.......or do they? Marcus |

Can you System Restore back before that update? I don't know anything about those updates nor how they would impact DRM. That sounds like something to talk to product support about. That's technically not an error - that's just a filename. Is there any more context to that error? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#isolate -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Talked to their tech support: (they actuallly have some folks who know what
they're talking about!) Here's what he did: Issue: The customer called and can not play any DRM WMA files. Error "Windows media player has encountered an unknown error and needs to close. Modname: DRMV2clt.dll" . There is no DRM folder and there is not a reg key "DRM". This is what was done to fix this issue: Re-registered the dll file "regsvr32 drmv2clt.dll" Exported the DRM key from my Win98 registry Imported the key in to the registry Blew the DRM and updated the DRM components here. After completing the steps above the customer was able to get the license and play the music with no errors. This also solved the issued with the same error the customer was getting when trying to download the music in Internet Explorer. That solved the problem with Walmart files. MSN Music Chat support restored the use of my licenses for their files. Still working with MusicMatch. Buymusic.com is hopeless. Have filed a complaint with BBB for refund. Marcus Thanks, Shaun - 2nd Level Tech Support musicdownloads@walmart.com "zachd [ms]" <zachd@nomailplz.online.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:uEI8DyGEGHA.3820@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... So who did you talk to at Microsoft support, and what did they say? Not much to say........Walmart beat em to the punch......go figure. Now only
Buy Music's WMA files won't play. Their tech support is beneath contempt. I've demanded refunds for all my purchased files. What I suspect is that the Windows update 905915 is responsible for the DRM folder becoming inoperative. Microsoft 3rd tier support (a real American) does not deny that possibility.
