This may be a frequently asked question but ID tags annoy me to death.
Everytime I use Windows Media Player it takes a song which ID3 tags I remove and adds a tag with nothing in it... in other words, any other place I use the song, I get a blank artist and song name... very annoying can this tagging thing be turned off altogether in WMP? thanks in advance RJB |

In WMP, go to:
Tools -> Options -> Library Uncheck "retrieve additional information from the internet" This will prevent WMP from getting info and adding tags to your files. "Recruiter J. I'm not sure what you mean... My problem is this. I use Winamp now. I want
to start using WMP. I strip the ID3 tags from all my songs so that the artist and name appears by file name. But when I play them in WMP it adds a tag anyway. A blank one. Then when I put them in my car MP3 player, the songs that I've played in WMP don't have any info on the LCD screen - because of the blank tag that gets tacked on does this make more sense? I've checked and the "download information from the internet" is UNCHECKED please Help!!! It sounds like WMP won't allow you not to have ID3 tags in the file. It sounds like it should be fundamentally superior for your scenario for the file to have ID3 tags. Sounds like if you need to NOT have ID3 tags, you'll have to mark them as read-only after stripping them. -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
