Default Windows Media Player Not Installed Properly

I installed Windows Media Player 10 it somehow got corrupted. I try to
uninstall using the Add/Remove Progams function. It asks me to restart my
computer before the uninstall will work. The uninstall fails and now when
you try to start up Media Player it flashes a message saying startup failed
please log in on a profile that can install programs however my profile has
administrator privileges.

How can I totally uninstall Media Player so that I'm able to reinstall on a
clean slate

Ah. You've hit a particular reinstall lock.
Delete the value "InstallResult" under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ Setup . At that point you
should be good to reinstall.
