Media Player 10 locks up when streaming mpg files from internet sites; this
applies ONLY to mpg files since I can see other video files such as avi, wma fine while online. I cannot get online while Media Player 10 is locked up and find that the only way to get out of is to close the program. As soon as I get out of Media Player 10, I can then access the internet. Whats puzzleling is that if I download the mpg files manually, I can view them perfectly. I am only having having issues with mpgs streaming. This problem is only with Media Player 10 since I can view streaming mpgs from Quicktime Player without any problems. I have to toggle the associated files of course. Does anyone have a solution to this? John |

Does mcspmpeg.ax exist on your system? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#mpeg If you specify your bitrate under WMP's Tools:Options:Performance, does that help? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Yes, it does exist. It is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\muvee

So if you unregister or rename that file, do things then work better/right? http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#mcspmpeg covers this, by the way. Also: do you get the chance to send up a crash report here? Please tell that you do - it would make my life very much happier since I could use that crash bucket number-- http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket -- to associate this problem with a fix, and then everyone else who runs into this problem would happily ALSO find out how to fix this issue. =) -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Okay, sounds like you would need to unregister and/or uninstall the MainConcept files then. -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. What files are under: === C:\Program Files\Common Files\muvee Technologies\MainConcepts === ? How did these files get installed to your system? I would HEARTILY recommend you talk to MainConcept support, since they should be a) aware of this problem and b) know how to remove their software if needs be. =) -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
