Hello,
If someone could help me this problem Id be grateful. When I listen to audio programs via DSL 3.0 internet, at times my playback is delayed for approximately 30 seconds (longer or shorter). This is a fairly new computer with much memory and is fast. However, I have an old bare minimum computer that works with WMP10 just fine. This new computer doesnt have a firewall. I've gone through the FAQ's and nothing seems to help. WMP10 works fine with CD's. I believe the problem is related to the buffering. The connection speed and buffering in the options box is selected as recommended. Any ideas? |

Ignore the auto-detect network settings. and either set the buffer time manually (eg to 5 seconds) and tell the player you have a connection speed of LAN (10mbps or more) in the drop down box. These options are in Tools -> Options -> Performance (rather than the expected Network tab !) HTH Cheers - Neil |

Thanks alot for the assistance Neil, however, the problem still persists.
The WMP10 still stalls during buffering phase and stops and then restarts. It does seem to be improve only slightly. Could it be something on my computer as I have all the updates to WMP10? You know, it really *could* be the other end not having enough capacity for all the listeners. Did you try the BBC video popup on news.bbc.co.uk ? They *definitely* have enough capacity for huge numbers of online streams, so only very rarely (like on 9/11 type events) will you see sdignificant buffering. NB e sure to choose media player not real player when you're asked which player to use on their site, as it sets a cookie to remember your player selection in future ;-) >The WMP10 still stalls during buffering phase and stops and then restarts. >It does seem to be improve only slightly.
