Quality of sound is poor (distorted)

I had a few problems with a virus, now it's all up and running, so I don't
want to do a system restore. Anyway, my problem is that I noticed today that
the playback sound of my WMP is very bad. Then I decided to play the same
songs with Real Player and guess what, sound was perfect. So I guess it's
something wrong with my settings. Anyone knows where I can configure the
sound on my WMP ? I have WMP 10. Many thanks. Evan.

why don't you want to do a system restore, is it because the trojan is
still there? real sound is better then any other. anyway. but i
would look for traces of that virus, you don't say what it was.

Trouble is, las time I did a system restore, it installed loads of old
programs. After I had the virus problem, I installed a new spyware program,
installed a new anti-virus, unistalled a few programs including old
anti-virus, spyware programs, etc.

So I'm a bit worried about doing a system restore. All I wanted to know is
if there is a cause for the sound not being all right on WMP, if there are
setting I can try and fix it, etc.

I tried to re-install the WMP but sound was still bad. Thanks.

Does this get fixed up if you turn off WMP's EQ?

Hi mate, many thanks, you saved my life. Yep, it solved the problem. I can't
remember turning it on in the first place, but definitely by turning it off
it ended the distortion sound I was hearing before.
