Default Windows Media Player Won't Play Streaming Video (Error C00D11CD)

I am unable to access streaming video content on Yahoo Movies from any of the
movie trailers. If I open the given URLs directly in the Widows Media Player
I receive a Windows media player has received an unknown error. More
information lists the following error C00D11CD: Unknown error. I have tried
all of the suggestions under Chris Lanier's Blog for this error type; but
none fixed the problem. I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2,
Windows Media Player 10.00.00.3802 and Internet Explorer
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.

The sample files listed on the Microsoft website given below did not work
(webpage not available errors for each link). Therefore, I searched my local
hard drive and tested .asf, .wma and .wmv files respectively using the
Windows Media Player. All played normally. I was not successful finding a
different webpage giving example streaming audio files for test in several
Google searches.

Amazon.com uses streaming audio samples on the pages they have for CDs... so
browse to your favorite CD at amazon.com , and try that...

Try uninstalling WMP then reinstall. Sometimes Yahoo loses its registration
info and reinstalling re-registers with Yahoo.
