Default No sound in media player when playing back video from my DVD handy

WMP 10.00.00.3802 OS - Windows XP Home edition service pack 2.

Previously (when using WMP 9) I could play back home video perfectly direct
from the DVD. I subsequently installed new picture editing software (Ulead
CD & DVD PictureShow 4). Now when I play my DVD's with WMP the video is fine
but there is no sound.

I then downloaded WMP 10 selecting all options for the WMP player as the
default, but to no avail.

I still get the video playing with no sound. Other media played (eg CD's,
MP3's) in WMP is fine - that is they have sound. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

ULead don't usually screw this up, so that's unfortunate. I think it's
likely your DVD audio decoder became damaged.

Could you go to this site http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ to the
Download link for AC3 filter, and install that ? It should result in
working DVD audio, but *may* affect the Ulead software if they've
caused a conflict.

Thanks for posting the extra info, it saves us asking if the mute
button in the player is pressed (#1 cause of no audio this week ;-))

Thanks Neil, Downloading ac3filter worked. I now have sound back for my dvd
in WMP. And it appears it did not stuff up anything in ULead.

Cheers
Stu
