After a few posts like this, my brain starts caving in. Backup/data/MP3/WMA disks are simply disks of files... like a hard-disk or floppy. The only order on them is imposed by the viewing application - even if you started from a playlist. When you try to play them back, they will typically play back in alphanumeric order. If you have a playlist file present, then only certain more advanced players will look for it and use it. |

Mike, thank you for your reply. I am not sure if that helps me but I
understand what you are telling me. You are saying that this issue I have should not be happening. So, The way I see the order in the now playing list is the way it should be recorded to the new disc, right? YES. But if It was not to do this, why would it record the tracks differently than the way they appear in the now playing list? No, I am saying that what you are seeing is expected. > So, The way I see the order in the now playing list > is the way it should be recorded to the new disc, right? YES. If you are burning an Audio CD yes, but you are not, so NO. But if It was > not to do this, why would it record the tracks differently than the way they > appear in the now playing list? Because of the reasons outlined in my previous post. The only way to guarantee playback order is to rename all the files on the disk so that their alphanumeric order reflects the desired playback order. |

I have media player 9 as I'm on 2000. I've bought music from MSN music UK and
so the .wma are protected. I've chekced the licences for all the files and they can, supposedly, be burned to CD ten more times with an expiry date of 2099. I've created my playlist, gone to 'Copy to CD', the files are all checked but the roxio applet keeps failing. I've tried the nero plugin and that's useless too. I can't think of what else to do. Any ideas? |

*passed on a reminder to the doc team to make sure this "order" issue is doc'd for next version* Thanks for the reminder. =) -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. According to your system clock, you're living in the future. That's cool. What should I invest in? Will we have robot butlers and jet cars? That was always my hope. =\ The only interim ongoing releases I know of here are QFEs, KBs, and the web help docs. It's not addressable via QFE, and I don't think it has the weight for a KB. And the web help docs aren't really applicable in my eyes. So I don't know there's a fix vector available until v.next, and then it'll just be minor errata in the overall product notes. What I'm doing on an ongoing basis, previous to v.next: * Hooking up crash buckets to fixes where possible * Adding text to relevant web error help pages where needed Everything else gets directed to v.next. It'll be like Cairo, but it'll actually happen. You should send me your "top scenarios/concerns for v.next" soon. I've got a list on my desktop of things I'm watching, but it's always good to remind me lots and lots. =) -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
