Default Media Player 10

My media player is only playing MP3 tracks and does not want to play any of
my ripped wma tracks. In tools>file types all of the options are selected.
When I try to play .wma, I get the following message:

Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when
another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does
not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player.

Any suggestions please apart from resaving all of my albums in MP3 format!

Many Thanks

Trevor

Can mplayer2.exe still play WMA files?
What did you install or change about the time this started to happen?

Please ignore my naivity but I cannot find mplayer2.exe so not sure if it
plays wma. Only just really noticed the problem recently but think the last
update was Nero 6.
