Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help with this. I've got some new CD's for Christmas, I want to add them to media library on Media Player V10.00.00.3646. WMP gets redirected to another window, which says "metaservices.windowsmedia.com" The album info displayed is correct, but when I click "finish" as instructed, the CD still shows as "unknown album, Track 1" etc. Any suggestions as to where to look, please? -- PacMan "Laugh, and the world laughs with you, snore and you sleep alone" - Anthony Burgess |

It's a bit of a buggy feature and does this from time to time on versions 9 and 10. Emptying the cache in Internet Explorer is supposed to help(although I hardly ever use IE and the problem still occurs). Your other option is to manually enter the track information. |

I may be reduced to doing so. Fine for a couple of CD's, but I have several I'd like to take around with me. Thanks for the help. -- PacMan "I loathe people who keep dogs. That that should be something different, since you're *getting* the data and just can't write it. What brand of computer do you have? Does running "regsvr32.exe wmp.dll" fix this up after you restart the player? -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. Seems to recognise the CD OK again after restart. Do I need to do this every time? -- PacMan "When a man's best friend is his dog, that dog has a problem" - Edward Abbey |

Nope, just this once. I'm pretty certain you have a Dell, by the way. ;-) And hey: do you have a system restore point before you fixed this up? I'd be interested in knowing exactly what registry setting the OEM is screwing up here... =\ -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. The only thing "we" are aware of that causes this is a box/OEM configuration issue. So knowing what registry keys the registration of wmp.dll wrote that weren't already present would be of strong interest to me. But it's kind of a hassle, since you'd have to system restore, export out your registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software), verify the failure, run regsvr32 wmp.dll, verify success, and then export again and either compare those files or have me compare them for you. =\ Regardless, thanks. Good to know you're good to go. =) -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
