It needs to be converted first. I don't use WMP for this, instead I use JetAudio... jetAudio Basic: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/jetaudio.html That tool will automatically convert it to a compatible format and from there it will burn it to CD and when it's done it will clean up any temp files left over. While I think WMP is the greatest playback application on the planet I don't use too many of the other features as I've found 3rd party tools to do the trick and I've either become used to them before WMP had the capabilities or find that they simply do the job easier or even better. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "We approached the case, you remember, with an absolutely blank mind, which is always an advantage. I don't follow this. When an AUDIO CD is burned, the source files are automatically converted, which WMP does OK although you will suffer from the 2-scond gaps. It may be an issue with how the CD is closed, or possibly the car doesn't like the particular CD media used. |

With the number of people who've complained about the burning functionality in WMP there's no reason not to see if a third party application does the trick for them. Having seen this be effective (I've been recommending the application for years) it's well worth the effort to download and click the couple of buttons to at least test to see if it's the CD, WMP, or the abilities of the car's CD player. WMP is, to be honest, very good at what it's name implies - a media player. It's the rest of what it does that seems to cause the majority of headaches for people with the exceptions of PBKAC caused errors. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "We approached the case, you remember, with an absolutely blank mind, which is always an advantage. Ah, no... That was not my intent at any rate. It's not that it doesn't do any conversion but rather that there's other applications that do it and do it, in my humble opinion, better. Somewhere along the lines WMP seems to have lost it's purpose. The last bit there, "Player," is pretty descriptive. As a player I give it a solid 8.5 out of 10 as a rating. The rest of it's still growing and someday might be able to keep up with dedicated third party applications. Then again, maybe not, some country's bound to want their own "N" version though the last bit of news on the WMP-less XP is that it wasn't selling very well. Go figure? When I get an OS I really would like to think it at least had the capacity to play media files but that's just me. <g> So no, it does convert it just doesn't seem to do so well from all of the complaints. Maybe one of these days I'll hunker down and test each and every last feature. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "We approached the case, you remember, with an absolutely blank mind, which is always an advantage.
