Windows media player 10 will not open and play any WMV files in my Hotmail.
It will open and play the same files in my Outlook and Yahoo mail. This happens on my home computer. Is there a way to fix this problem? I've been in contact with Hotmail support but, they can't provide a solution to this problem. They are saying that the fix is beyond their capabilities and that it is a Microsoft Media player problem. The error code I get when the media player tries to open the file in Hotmail is,COOD1197 I don't understand how it can be a media player problem when the same media player works perfectly in 2 of the 3 mail accounts. Any tips or being directed to the proper section of this site for help, would be appreciated. Thank you |

You should always save media attachments from webmail services before trying to play them. In Outlook or Yahoo the files have almost certainly been downloaded to your PC before you try to play them. That doesn't happen with web/HTTP-based mail clients. |

Hello Mike
Thanks for the reply. Hotmail will play the video clip but, only if it has been saved first. What I'm wondering is, why wont my Hotmail account play the clip without having to save it first? I have sent the same clip to other people who have a Hotmail account and they were able to get the clip to play just by clicking on "open" after downloading it.
