Default video screen turns green

A .wmv file starts out ok but a few seconds into the video, the screen turns
soid green but the audio is still there. Restarting will not help this
problem. What's going on?

Does this happen with just this WMV file, or other WMV files too...?

This happens with any file but not all the time. The audio is still working
properly. There are also times when the screen freezes and all I can get are
"still pictures" as I try to advance the file. Thanks for your response.
