Default Re: ActiveX not working after update KB896688

It does not "just get rid of the update". It replaces information that
/should/ have been there all along, but that "something" removed (and should
not have).

The update is a physical file stored in the filesystem.

This information tells the system how to find the ole32.dll file so that it
can, among other things, properly display ActiveX controls.

If the Brio is /not/ working after you insert this registry mod, then you
definitely need to have a heart-to-heart soapbox-standing discussion with Brio
as to why their client is incompatible with the standard configuration of the
operating system.

I'll repeat PA Bear's question, and add my own:
"Who is this 'Microsoft guy'"?
"Who is your "technical support microsoft contact".

And, next time you talk to them.. tell them to read KB909889, where this exact
fix is documented as the "official" Microsoft resolution for issues caused by
the installation of KB896688 on systems such as yours.
