Default RE: Update #KB829019 failed

The .NET 2.0 downloaded, but 4 attempts to install have failed. Then I found
this Discussion Group. Someone talked about uninstalling the Beta first. So
I tried that. The Beta did not want to install because of another Beta I had
installed, Win FX. So I uninstalled Win FX, then the .NET 2.0 Beta, and then
I could successfully install .NET 2.0. Check your Add/Remove Programs
Control Panel Applet to see if either Win FX Beta or .NET 2.0 Betas are
installed.

I hope this helps.

Default RE: Update #KB829019 failed

I have been unable to install the .NET update. I am running Windows 2000
Professional on an IBM ThinkPad Laptop. I do not have any beta versions of
..net installed. I have Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 as well as the hotfix
for it - (KB886903). I tried installing it with the critical updates, then
seperate from the critical updates. Both times I got error 0x659; I have no
idea what that error means.

Additionally, as recommended on this forum, I tried going to the Microsoft
..NET Framework developer centerand downloading/installing it directly from
that site
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframewo.../default.aspx). I
tried installing the Redistributal Package (2.0 x86) as the site says this
must be installed before installing the SDK 2.0 x86 package. It was unable
to install; the error message said that it either could not open the
installation package or a required file.

The only thing I have yet to try is to uninstall the 1.1 version (and
hotfix) before trying to install the 2.0 version. I did not think this was
necessarily causing a problem since all the posts I have read so far said
that only those people with beta versions had to uninstall them first.

I will post again once I have tried uninstalling version 1.1 first.

Ever think about beginning a new thread about /your/ problem, instead of
"piggybacking" onto all these other threads, no matter how similar their
problems may be?
