I'm advising on a distributed system, and the application server
periodically changes. I think it's not a very good design personally, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm wondering if microsoft have a component that does windows update that I can use. |

Have you looked at Windows Server Update Services?

PC's and servers have Automatic Updates in the control panel that you can set
up. I wouldn't recommend haveing them load automatically on servers as they will reboot but you can do some cool things with that in the Group Policies and reboot them as needed.
