The error (0x80240036) translates to just "invalid operation" so isn't
much help in troubleshooting your problem.

Some elsewhere in this newsgroup have suggested that re-installing the
JAVA runtime software will help resolve this issue. You can download
the runtime install package (get the offline package, it's about 15 MB)
from this Sun website:
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

You may also want to manually download/install the MS Update software
package:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v6...gent20-x86.exe

Last, download and install the latest MS scripting runtime files from
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Be sure to clean your browser offline files (Tools/Options/General
tab --> Delete files), do a Restart, and then give MS Update another
try.
