I cant install the update files. I'm not getting any error massage.
in the same screen where you can see your download progress, after all the files are downloaded it wil stop and say these files where not installed. |

I would just say that I have the same problem. No matter how hard I try it
will not update. I have disabled anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, etc. and no luck. How do we get attention to this problem. "Remmy" wrote: > I cant install the update files. I hate to just take up space - but I have this same problem and have been
trying to figure out whats going on for the last 4 hours. Are we the tip of the iceberg? Maybe someone will notice. No event log errors. The files have been downloaded and just will not install. Individual files from Windows download can be installed outside of Update. "Remmy" wrote: > I cant install the update files. How to troubleshoot Windows Update, Microsoft Update, and Windows Server
Update Services installation issues: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=906602 1. See the "Need more help? Tell us what problem you are having" section of http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=ph;en-us;6527 2. You cannot install some updates or programs http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;822798 3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors associated with the download/install. How to read the Windowsupdate.log file: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=902093 3b. Compare errors to those listed here: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive...date_codes.htm and/or go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > click on Help and Support link in left pane > Solve problems on your own. 4. I'm also having the same problem. I've removed installs to try to reinstall.
I still unable to reinstall security patches. I went thru steps in article id 319585. Where is the spot or option, to select the downloads you need and copy to hard drive and install offline. I'm running Windows 98 SE because I lost use of internet in windows xp when I installed windows xp service pack 2. Removed windows xp service pack 2, but never could update windows xp. Looks I'm going to have to reformat and start all over. |

I tried practically all of the solutions listed with no change. I did
however use the administration option to download and install the critical updates. I am sure that over time this will clear itself. Thanks for all the suggestions.
