thanks taurarian
tried what u said and i entered update when asked to validate my software accepted and was informed my software was not cosha i am using an advent 3315 computer and have a restore disk with windows xp included as previosly stated update problems started after my computer was sorted for a software problem( windows not fully loading properly and hanging with no start bar ??) would this cause the above and what do i do to rectify all help gratefully received -- TELLYTUBBY "TaurArian [MVP]" wrote: > This error message may occur if you have insufficient permissions to the > Windows > Update registry keys.
