I ahve 2 computers that came preloaded with XP SP2 from manufacturer. Both
cannot validate using the WGA alternative method. The message I get is: Validation Not Completed: ActiveX Error [0x80080206] It appears that your internet settings will not allow the genuine ActiveX control to run properly, or you may not be the system administrator of the machine you are using. I have used the diagnostic tool, which indicated an object error with the Active X script. I have foloowed the recommended procedure for changes to Inetrenet setting but still get the error. I see other people have had this problem, but reloading the OS is not really a vaible option to fix a problem I didn't create. |

You receive an error code and the copy of Microsoft Windows is
not validated when you try to use Windows Genuine Advantage to validate your copy of Windows http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;908440 The Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check process does not complete when you try to validate your copy of Windows XP or Windows 2000 Professional http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;905226 You receive a "Validation Incomplete: Online Validation Failure" error message or a "0x80080204" error code when you try to validate Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;906533 Please use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of Microsoft Download Center pages to request assistance directly from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/ContactDownloads -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Wondering" wrote: | I ahve 2 computers that came preloaded with XP SP2 from manufacturer.
