I'm having the same problem (wmsr hanging after running about 40%). I have
also tried the manual download and running from the command line mrt.exe -
none of those work. I am using Zone Alarm firewall and McAfee virus scan. I
disabled them but still no luck.

Interestingly, I ran the tool from the IE interface (link below) and it
worked. http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx

Looks like this might be a common problem based on some of the other posts.
Has anyone figured out how to fix it?
