Default Reinstalled Windows

Wind. XP Pro. My computer developed faults, which according to the
professionals could only be cured by removing and reinstalling Windows.

My Windows are the 2002 version, so the updates must be very volumeous. I
have SP2 on a CD, so there will not be a problem with that, but is there a
way of updating my windows, besides through searches and recommendations
conducted on the Microsoft web?

I would begin by slipstreaming the WinXP CD with the SP2 patch - that will take care
of the big one.

Slipstreaming links.

You will still need to run WU to determine what is needed after that - some updates
that were previously applied may be superceded.

Unfortunately I know of no quick way of obtaining the updates other than through MS.
However you may or may not be interested in these links.

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want,
Click the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you
want the updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Many thanks for the very comprehensive way you have dealt with my problem.
In view of the many choices I can see that I will have difficulty choosing
the fastest way of updating my Windows.
