Yes, a download manager might work, if I can get one that isn't full of
spyware or adware. But the problem of the big download remains. I know
Microsoft have been worried about piracy; I know they don't want the burden
of producing CDs; but the fact remains that offering updates only in huge
chunks is unsustainable and rather lacking in concern for user's problems.

The solution would surely be for Microsoft to package their updates in
smaller chunks. Download Managers introduce a whole raft of security
problems. Let's get software vendors to come out of the "everyone has
broadband" mentality.

Come on, Microsoft; you know you can do it right!
