All:
When I start my PC, the automatic Windows Security Alert pops up saying that I need to download some security updates. I ran the Windows Update function in update.microsoft.com... and it points out that I need to download KB890830, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. The automatic alert has tried to download this item numerous times and it always fails. I have Zone Alert and Adaware programs to keep intruders at bay. The question is, how do I stop my automatic Windows Security Alert from telling me again and again that I need that one removal tool (and failing each time)? And, is it that important to have that one tool in my computer? I turned off the Automatic Updates just to not have that popup alert annoy me. thank you Roxy |

Have you tried allowing Automatic Updates to download & install the MSRT,
Roxy, instead of going to Windows Update page to get it? Have you tried manually downloading & installing it? http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx Configured appropriately (notify only), you can have Automatic Updates "hide" a given update. PA Bear:
Downloaded and ran the program, which did not find any malicious software. Now I will configure updates and hope they will not keep banging its head against my firewall. Thanks a lot.
