I've been following this discussion thread for months now. I too have a
number of Windows 2000 SP4 Servers with Terminal Services in Remote Admin mode behind an ISA 2000 SP2 proxy server. I still receive 0x8024401b errors when using the Windows Update v6 web site via Remote Desktop. However, I find that the Windows Update v6 web site works correctly when accessed directly at the console of the same servers. I am also vaguely aware of another workaround that involves running Windows Update v4 instead of v6. However, I'd like to know if anyone has heard of a plan from Microsoft to fix this apparent bug in Windows Update v6.
