Hello.
I am running Windows 2000 SP4. I am trying to apply the following updates, which are the default ones that Windows Update chooses when I go to the update site: Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 The updates will NOT install. At first I tried installling them via WSUS server. All of the servers but the one in question installed. So I went to a more manual approach on this one server. I stopped the Automatic Update Service. I did not have to stop the Background Intelligent Transer Service, because it was not running. I renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder, located in Winnt folder. And I restarted services and tried going to the Windows Update site again. It still failed. I registered the msxml3.dll. Then I did the above steps again. It still failed. Can anyone help me with this? It shouldn't take three hours to install a minor update. Thanks. |
