I tried doing some updates. They downloaded and failed. They show in the log
as failed, but it does not give me the option to download them again.

Any Ideas?

I am running SBS 2000 on a "new" AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU (939 socket)

and the "new" v6 update failed to load the BITS and WinHTTP AND Windows
Installer 3.1 (Error Code: 0x80004002 )

when I went to the Manual v4 update site it started to want me to load a X64
product ... my guess??? is that the "automatic" software is keying on the
fact that the Athlon 64 is a 64 bit processor ... my guess is further that
because it "really" is running in 32 bit "mode" its confusing to the
Microsoft code ....

hence (hopefully) the reason the install fails ....

perhaps try downloading the package as an exe from:

I did that and it seemed to install on my SBS 2000 running an Athlon 64
3500+ CPU
.... will report back after reboot etc.

after running the download from KB842773 (bits etc) I rebooted and got an
Application Log full notice ... I attempted the Windows Update and got the
same stalled download ...

I cleaned out the log (saved it to disk) and retried the Windows Update ...

voila ... it worked ... the Windows Installer 3.1 (which had previously
stalled) now just clipped along quite nicely ... thank you ...
